Minneapolis Indie pop group Whosah (pronounced WHO-suh) returned to play an energetic show with support from Minneapolis alternative band Early Eyes in the MSC on Thursday, Nov. 16. Whosah first played at the University of WisconsinStout about three years ago.

Early Eyes played a high energy set to an active crowd of students, laying down a unique blend of original funk-rock before Whosah. Humorous stage antics and experienced musicianship kept the crowd honed in on the weaving basslines and warm guitar licks.

Familiar with the college crowd, Whosah pumped up students with popular nineties covers and upbeat originals. Lead vocalist Spencer Grimes’s banter kept the crowd involved.

“It’s easier for us to connect with students, and when we’re playing I feel like we are able to connect with the audience on a deeper level.” Spencer Grimes said, “I love getting to meet students and hanging out with them.”

Whosah is made up of frontman Spencer Grimes, drummer Dave Grimes, guitarist Dallas Erdahl, guitarist/bassist Mack Grimes and guitarist/bassist Nate Flynn.

Whosah loves getting to know their audiences. “[Many] people 17 to 20-something have no idea what they are doing with their lives, so we have a lot of fun meeting other people who also have no idea what they’re doing with their lives—just like us,” Dave Grimes Said.

Check out both bands on Spotify or Bandcamp.
