Now that it is officially spooky season, there is no better way to stay in the mood other than watching some spooky movies! As an avid horror lover, I have curated a spooktacular list to help you stay in the mood this month.
October 1: Hocus Pocus
Something lighthearted to ease your way into all the spooks and scares of the month. Three kids find themselves caught in the crosshairs of a coven of witches.
October 2: The Addams Family’s Values
A kooky classic that will give you plenty of laughs and make you appreciate your family. Some new family members cause some chaos in the Addams Family.
October 3: Casper
Ghosts galore! In this classic, a father-daughter duo buy a house where some unsuspecting spirits live.
October 4: Sleepy Hollow
Keeping up with the Cristina Ricci vibe, here is a nice retelling of the classic fairytale. A supernatural killer starts to hunt the people of Sleepy Hollow.
October 5: Ghostbusters Afterlife
A legacy sequel that was worth the wait. When a family moves into their farmhouse that they inherited, they discover a ghostly family secret
October 6: Beetlejuice
If you’re in the mood for some adult comedy with spooky antics, this is the film for you. When a young couple dies, the family is willing to try anything to get the new people out of their house.
October 7: Bratz Sleepover Adventures
The film traumatized an entire generation of children. When the Bratz Pack tells scary stories, weird things start to happen.
October 8: Friday the 13th part 3
For the bad cheesy 3D movie lovers out there. Jason is back and he’s out for blood, this time in 3D.
October 9: Happy Death Day
Time loops and a serial killer? Sign me up! When Tree gets murdered on her birthday, she wakes up the next day right back where she started.
October 10: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors
The best one in the franchise will definitely make you want to stay awake. When nightmares cause teenagers in a hospital to die, a professional comes in to help them.
October 11: Scream
A 90’s classic that will ensure you have caller ID hooked up on your phone. A serial killer decides to break the rules of modern horror films.
October 12: My Bloody Valentine (2009)
For my Jensen Ackles fans out there. Years after a massacre, a killer decides to come back and turn the lovers’ holiday to a bloody one.
October 13: House of Wax
For my Jarred Padalecki fans out there. A group of friends must fight for their lives before they become part of the town’s tourist attraction.
October 14: Longlegs
Se7en meets The Exorcist. An FBI agent must fight agents time to uncover the identity of a serial killer that she has a personal connection too.
October 15: It Follows
A film for the proud virgins out there. When infected by a demon STD, a woman must outrun a demon that will keep on following unless she passes it on.
October 16: Doctor Sleep
A sequel that somehow improves the first one. After the events of The Shining, Danny must help out a young girl who has special powers.
October 17: The VVitch
Evil takes many forms. A family starts to believe that a witch is haunting the woods that surrounding their home.
October 18: Hereditary
A film that will make you scared of your little sister (more than you already are). After a death in the family, a mother descends into madness as she believes some supernatural things are afoot.
October 19: Us
Jordan Peele’s best work to date. A family on vacation starts to see double when their doppelgangers show up to murder them.
October 20: The Sixth Sense
What a twist! A child psychologist starts to see a new patient who claims to see dead people.
October 21: Hush
If you don’t live in the middle of nowhere, be grateful. A deaf author must fight for survival when a masked maniac tries to break into her house.
October 22: No One Will Save You
A new kind of home invasion. Living alone, Bryn must fight for her life when aliens break into her house.
October 23: The Amityville Horror
Don’t ever buy a Dutch colonial. When a family moves into a brand-new house, the past sins of the previous owners come to light.
October 24: Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City
For the fans of the video games, here’s a close enough adaptation. A zombie outbreak throws the residents of Racoon City into a fight for survival.
October 25: The Thing (1982)
Practical effects galore. A shapeshifting alien infiltrates a scientist compound in the arctic.
October 26: Jurassic Park
It’s a dinosaur zoo—What could go wrong? When scientists decide they can bring back dinosaurs from the dead, they enlist the help of professionals to see if it is safe for them to open their zoo.
October 27: The Descent
Group bonding! Let’s get lost in the caves. A group of friends decide to do some spelunking, but they find way more than what they bargained for.
October 28: Freaky
Freaky Friday meets Friday the 13th. When Millie is brutally attacked by the serial killer that haunts her town, she awakens the next day in his body.
October 29: Trick ‘r Treat
Make sure to check your candy! In this horror anthology, you will see ghosts, vampires, werewolves and a cute little pumpkin guy.
October 30: Smile 2
Taylor Swift meets supernatural curse… At least there are some bangers! When a pop star witnesses the death of a friend, she starts seeing people smile at her.
October 31: Halloween
It’s a classic for a reason. What else would you expect?
