This issue’s Student-Athlete Spotlight is Katelyn Brockman, a junior on the University of Wisconsin-Stout cross country and track team. Brockman is a team captain and earned an All-WIAC sportsmanship award at Conference. She is a food science major from Pulaski, Wisconsin.

What foods or drinks help you gear up and stay energized for games?  

On race day, I usually eat one peanut butter jelly sandwich an hour and a half before I run. After that I always have coffee the morning of my race. 

What is your most memorable sporting experience?  

My most memorable sporting experience was my junior year of high school where my team won sectionals and we made it to state.  

Do you have any pre-game rituals? 

One pregame ritual is that I must have my hair braided in some way before I race. 

What was your favorite TV show growing up?  

My favorite TV show growing up was SpongeBob 

What is the strangest talent you have? 

I run for fun. 

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?  

If I could have any superpower, I would choose telekinesis. 

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?  

I would love to max out my credit card at Athleta, Target or Nike. 

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My Mom and Dad are my biggest inspiration because they are the hardest workers I know and always support me in everything I do. They are the most positive and loving people who motivate me to do my best each and every day.

What are your long-term goals after graduation?  

My long-term goal after graduation is to get a job within the Dairy Industry in product/ingredient development or a food chemist.
