On Thursday, Oct.14, University of Wisconsin-Stout students, alumni, employees and community members laced up their shoes to race in the annual Homecoming event, Let’s Glow Blue Devil Run.

For the past 17 years, UW-Stout has hosted an annual Homecoming road race called the Glow Run. The race was put together by Jeff Keenan and UW-Stout’s running club to provide a healthy, enjoyable Homecoming event.

The total duration of the event is two miles. It begins at the west side of the Sports & Fitness Center and ends at the outdoor track. This is a great event to run for fun, or race competitively in.

Approximately 85 people pre-register for this event every year and a handful of people register the day of the race. The Glow Run welcomes all UW-Stout students, alumni, employees and community members to get in on the action.

Not only is the Glow Run a fun activity to participate in, but it allows you to give back to the University and community, as proceeds from the event go towards UW-Stout’s Urec scholarship.

The scholarship “offers opportunities for students to access our programs that have fees attached,” according to UW-Stout’s associate director of recreation, Mackenzie Stutzman.

“We did not do this last year due to COVID and all our services being free, but we are excited to begin promoting that scholarship again,” stated Stutzman.

The race costs $15 to participate in and items such as fun t-shirts and other race swag can be purchased at the event. Every item purchased goes to a great cause and assists the University.
