The UW-Stout softball team flexed its offensive power in a dominant 15-0 victory over Fredonia on Friday afternoon at Hancock Park. The Blue Devils (5-11) exploded for 10 runs in the fifth inning, sealing the shutout win in just five innings.
The scoring started in the second when Elly Holden launched a solo home run down the left-field line to put Stout on the board. Later in the inning, Donna D’Addabbo roped a bases-clearing double, and Rayni Bresnahan added an RBI single to push the lead to 5-0.
The game remained steady until the fifth, when the Blue Devils erupted for 10 runs on seven hits, capitalizing on Fredonia’s defensive miscues. Holden continued her stellar day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. D’Addabbo was also a key contributor, driving in five runs on three hits.
Pitcher Anna Blanford (3-5) was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out five batters over five innings.
Fredonia (0-10) struggled to generate offense, managing just three hits while committing four errors in the loss.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday, March 29, when they host St. Scholastica for a doubleheader on Alumni Field.
