On Friday, March 28th, Blue Devil Productions held a showing of Wicked starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. They had two showings last Friday. The first one was a normal watch, while the later showing was a sing-along. As always, BDP did a wonderful job! When I arrived, they had set themed stickers you could take as well as themed review sheets where you got to choose if you wanted Galinda or Elphaba making the review process more fun.
Hearing how much everyone seemed to enjoy the movie I was very excited to finally see it as I had not gotten a chance too when it was originally released. I also have very little knowledge of the orginal plot, so I was practically going in blind. Needless to say, I had high hopes for this movie. The only thing I was worried about was the run time being almost 3 hours, but to my surprise it did not feel that long in the slightest.
My overall opinion about the movie is that it’s simply ok. Not a bad movie by any means; I don’t regret watching it. It’s a very fun movie to watch with friends who know the lyrics and sing along with them, but if I had the choice between it and a different movie, I would turn on something else. Overall, I would say the movie was enjoyable. Not my favorite movie I have seen but definitely not a bad one.
