As of the 2024-2025 school year, students are now able to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. This unique program grants students access to a wide array of new opportunities. With most of the curriculum already offered through preexisting courses, majoring in Illustration will allow students to further fine-tune their artistic, specialized skillset. Although many classes needed for this major have already been offered by Stout, some new courses have been added such as Fundamentals of Illustration and Illustration Concepts. Printmaking, drawing, painting, and comics are just a few examples of the material students must learn to earn themselves a BFA in Illustration.
From design to advertising to entertainment, this new major allows students to indulge in multiple storytelling formats. Students pursuing this major can expect to work in fields such as advertisement, entertainment, or publishing.
Stout is constantly looking for more fields (both specified and generalized) to break into, keen on hearing out their student body to see which programs and courses to offer. Illustration is just one amongst five new programs added this year, allowing students more amazing opportunities to thrive in their field of interest.
