Logan Glaser/ Stoutonia

The Stoutonia has gone through a lot of change since its beginning in 1915; 14 different logos worth of change, to be exact. As of this fall, the Stoutonia will be going through another one of those changes, as we are officially introducing our latest logo. The logo not only represents the University of Wisconsin–Stout, but also represents what Stoutonia is all about:  “News for students, by students.” Without you (the students) and the stories that matter most to you, Stoutonia would not be here.

The Stoutonia will have three different representations: a primary, secondary and logomark logo. The primary logo will incorporate the full name, “Stoutonia,” the UW-Stout clock tower and the words, “News for Students, by Students.” The primary logo is the main representation of Stoutonia and briefly explains who we are.

The secondary logo will incorporate only the full name, “Stoutonia,” and the UW-Stout clock tower. Any time we believe we cannot fit the primary logo somewhere, or if we are printing an edition of our stories, we will use the secondary logo. The logomark logo will incorporate the UW-Stout clock tower and the letter “S.” The logomark logo will be used for social media and branding purposes. Therefore, our social media presence and branding will be simple and easy to understand for all.

We asked everyone here at Stoutonia what they believed our mission was, and because we are starting this new chapter of Stoutonia, we want to formally let you know what that is.

Stoutonia’s mission is to create stories that keep students informed and connected. Our goal is to always provide news for students, by students. If something matters to you, it matters to us.

Our new brand identity truly makes way for the future of our organization. However, we would not be able to move forward without our amazing team. Some members of our team are relatively new, whilst others are experienced veterans. Whether they are new or have been here a long time, we are glad they are with us. We would like to introduce our team!

This is Ryan Mezera’s third year working with Stoutonia. Mezera is currently the Editor-in-chief but has had experience being an Editor and a Chief Copy Editor. “My fondest memory of working for Stoutonia is probably getting my first story published. There’s a real sense of accomplishment in seeing something published with your name on it. It’s a feeling I hope Stoutonia can give to more students who are interested in writing.” Mezera said.

Mezera further states, “Stoutonia is a wonderful place to find your voice, not only as an aspiring writer, but as a UW-Stout student as well. The connections I’ve made working with Stoutonia will hopefully last far beyond the years I spent here on campus. I hope more people can find the same kind of lasting connections I have from Stoutonia or any student organization they are a part of.” This will be Mezera’s last semester as a part of Stoutonia, as he graduates in December. Mezera will be graduating with a degree in professional communication and emerging media.

This is Isabel Roberts’ fourth year working with Stoutonia. Roberts is the Production Manager for Stoutonia. “My fondest memory of working for Stoutonia was when I joined as a freshman. The Production Manager at the time, Makenna Wynveen, really took me under her wing and taught me all there was to know about InDesign and layout design for the publication. She holds a special place in my heart and is someone that I really look up to as a designer.” Roberts said. Roberts has hopes that Stoutonia’s rebranding and additional marketing efforts will see an increase in readers.

This is Brody Pierce’s third year working with Stoutonia. Pierce is currently the Chief Copy Editor for Stoutonia. “One of my favorite memories was being able to work with one of Stout’s senior game design groups and write an article on their game called ‘Pestilence.’ It was a fun experience and I got to see what went on behind the scenes of the gaming industry, even if it was small scale.” Pierce said. In the spring of 2022, Pierce will be leaving Stoutonia for better pastures. “I’m looking forward to seeing what the world has in store for me. I hope to help Stoutonia become a thriving news source again for it to continue to flourish once I’m out.”

This is Logan Glaser’s first year working with Stoutonia. Glaser is an Editor and designer and was the individual behind the new Stoutonia logos. “Since joining Stoutonia, my fondest memory would be having the privilege to be in a multitude of roles. I have not only been an Editor, but also a designer and someone who helps with marketing efforts. This really makes me believe anyone can join and contribute.” Glaser said. Glaser hopes that Stoutonia will grow in readers upon the thousands and become the primary UW-Stout news source.

This is Breanna Reinhart’s first year working with Stoutonia. Reinhart is an Editor who also helps manage the Stoutonia Instagram account. “My fondest memory of working for Stoutonia is the new friends I have made on our team. Having great coworkers makes each meeting fun and exciting to go to,” Reinhart said. Reinhart hopes that Stoutonia will expand towards a much larger news source on campus.

This is Gracyn Leukam’s first year working with Stoutonia. Leukam is a third-year transfer student and is an Editor for the Stoutonia. “Stoutonia means friendship, experience, networking, learning, growing, brainstorming and having fun.” Leukam said. Leukam hopes that every student on campus will know about Stoutonia, and wants all students to know that they are encouraged to join and contribute. She sees it expanding and thriving in the following years to come.

This is Christian Rodriguez’s first year working with Stoutonia as a Sports Editor. “I’ve only been a part of Stoutonia for a couple months, but my fondest memory would be reading my first published story about the football team,” Rodriguez said. Rodriguez aspires to see Stoutonia as a popular news organization that informs the student body on events that they were not aware of.
