With winter break approaching, many students will be heading home to enjoy the holidays. Even with the semester ending, there are still moving pieces on campus, one of which is athletics.
Many of the UW Stout winter sports are played through the weeks between semesters. Women’s and men’s basketball play a mix of home and away games that supply a sense of competitiveness and school spirit. The men’s hockey season is in full swing with a perfect record at home games, and women’s gymnastics will start its competitive season in January at Oshkosh. Indoor track and field also picks back up with a home meet in January.
Many might not know, but students and community members don’t even have to be on campus to watch the Blue Devils compete. People who want to support our athletes from afar can utilize the live video and live stats features provided by Stout Athletics and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
Viewers can start by going to the Stout Athletics page at https://stoutbluedevils.com/index.aspx.
By scrolling down the landing or home page, an events tab will show viewers the latest games or events happening that week.
The composite calendar is a great way to plan out a watch party or simply check in to see the results of a past game on a specific date. Each team has their own icon indicating a game or match that occurs on that date. Clicking on a date with an icon will show details such as location and time to see if the Blue Devils play at a time or place near you.
Searching a specific team or using the calendar feature, viewers can find a game occurring at the listed time and click the live video button to watch a live feed of a game or match. Many conference matches are free to watch and include limited ads, and it is a great way to stay up to date on sports without being on campus. Playoff games, however, are now under a paywall according to the new rule enacted in October 2025 by the WIAC. So, if you want to watch those heart racing games, try to be on campus when they play at home or find a group of friends to share the cost and experience!
A live events tab is also available to see what’s streaming on a weekly basis that can be found at https://stoutbluedevils.com/COVERAGE.aspx
Happy Watching!
