A fashion game night with mocktails was held on February 17th on the MSC terrace. The event was held by the Involvement Center, and it only lasted for an hour from 7pm to 8pm. During the event there was only one table with drinks, and it was only a small thing of pink lemonade. You couldn’t tell who oversaw the event because everyone was spread out and the people checking others in were not noticeable. It felt like the people who were running the event were phoning it in, and didn’t really care to be there. The whole night felt more like a hangout with friends rather than a game night.
When 7:00 p.m. hit, they announced that instead of everyone joining one or two servers to play the hit game on Roblox Dress to Impress everyone would instead play on a server with the few people around you. It honestly felt very rushed, and there was not a lot of care put into it. Everyone seemed to have a fun time at least—but did we really need to have a short hour event with just everyone basically doing nothing? Hopefully next time they decide to have a Dress to Impress night they make it a competition or at least act like they cared to even host the event.
A student who attended the event said, “Overall, the event was indeed a very intriguing idea. I really liked the premise of it, and I was very excited for this event. I practiced for this event, assuming most people that will go would be pretty advanced people that play the game relatively often. When it was stated that it wouldn’t be one big lobby, I was a little disappointed. I understood the reason why behind it, due to Roblox servers being so iffy all the time. But I do wish that there was a bit more togetherness within the event. But overall, I did have fun with the event, and it allowed me to meet some new people.”
A few suggestions that could make it better would be making the event longer, having more than one drink option, and prizes. Even though the event was kind of a swing and a miss, they did have a great idea with Dress to Impress. Fashion game night with mocktails gets 2/5 stars—hopefully they’ll get ‘em next round.
