The 2023-2024 season for the UW-Stout Women’s Basketball Team has had fans on the edge of their seat.
The Blue Devils started off their season strong by winning 11 out of the first 12 games. The women’s basketball team was nationally ranked and the NCAA tournament was within reach. After winter break, an unexpected turn occurred, when they proceeded to lose 6 of the next 7 games. The team’s confidence turned dismal. All hope was not lost when they broke their losing streak by winning against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The Women’s basketball team has brought pride to the students of UW-Stout. Every game, the bleachers are filled with anticipation. Dress-up themes, like white-out, are created by devoted basketball fans. Because of an anonymous donation, students were able to hop on a fan bus and show their support at the Oshkosh game. Other members of the community joined as well. The crowd looked amazing in their blue devil outfits. Students brought luck to the team when they won 77-65.
Although the season has had its ups and downs, The UW-Stout Women’s Basketball team is able to play in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007.
